045'd / banned
Just a word of warning. Got 45'd today for buying a kunna for 200k. Was all my cash and had farmed it all.
Seller wanted only cash for the transaction, so I agreed to give him 100k + 29e to hold. Once he put the 100k in his bank, gave me back my 29e and I gave him another 100k. Didn't think much of it, other than the seller was a noob or a failed scammer.
Tried to log in a few hours later, and got the dreaded code=045. perma banned for selling gold for real cash.
4 hours later and several "wtf explain" messages to support. Got unbanned and a "sorry we made an error."
Just something to keep in mind when doing larger transactions. I'd like to believe it was a script that failed and not a person, but NCSoft wouldn't confirm any of the details.
GuildWars, where its ok to farm your own gold. Just don't spend it in game...

This is getting stupid... Anet are really cracking out the ban stick.. If they cant design a script that can understand transactions over 100k then they need to make a higher limit for carrying cash on toons.

I'd rather have them be overzealous in banning and fixing it rather than too lax.

Are guys kidding me? You act like 50+ people a week are banned each week for trading gold to their friends/alt accounts/family.

You're right, it's probably a lot more than that.

just meant its not a normal request for a 200k plat only trade. only one i have ever been involved in. most people accept ectos/z keys/etc for anything over 100k.
i'll take "context" for a 1000.00..

any time I do a transaction involving ANY amount of cash I ALWAYS make sure to trade something (even if its just some bones or a dumb rune etc)...makes it look like you bought something .....
my husband and I always move stuff between our 2 accounts---he holds some items and I hold others....but just to avoid the ban mentioned above we always give something.
(there was a closed post last week from someone who had a very similar experience when he was given just plat----anet needs to check a bit further).

That is actually a good idea. Though I have helped my brother and others move items between accounts or something of the sort. I have never been banned for that but it is better safe then sorry.

It's easier to ban 1 player rather then a whole team of gold selling bots. Everyone makes mistakes but we don't hear about the bots being banned because no one advertises that. When someone gets wrongfully banned they come and post here. Therefore the community sees it. Again it is just 1 person being banned as opposed to trying to ban EVERY single gold selling bot.

Fine, if I have to be serious, you have no evidence, no hard facts, no information other than a wildly ridiculous conspiracy theory. You have no reason for Arenanet to be doing anything under the table. You don't even have a coherent conspiracy theory, which would at least be entertaining to read and provide something solid to argue against. You're asking to be taken seriously, but you don't provide a single reason to do so.

Banned

i think what would fix this is if a the scrip read what the trade was about. or just added a warning message when you trade at higher amounts. like once you reach 50k+ when you hit the confirm it says there is a chance you could get banned for this transaction. are you sure you want to submit?
